Spring and Summer Packing Essentials

If you’re fortunate enough to be heading to Pawleys Island in the spring or summertime when the weather is on point and there’s plenty of sunshine to go around, packing for time in the great outdoors is a must. There’s a good chance you’ll be spending ample time on the shoreline so you’re going to want to make sure everyone in your traveling crew has a beach bag in hand as well as extra beach blankets and towels for a comfortable afternoon of watching the waves roll in. Stocking up on sunscreen and lip balm is always a good idea for your Pawleys Island spring or summer getaway which will likely have you out on the nature trails a time or two. Sunglasses and sun hats are highly recommended and if you’re traveling with little ones, don’t forget a bucket to collect shells as you explore. A reusable water bottle gives you options to linger on the beach without having to worry about immediate access to amenities. While you’re free to bring your own boogie boards and paddleboards with you to Pawleys Island, if you want to pack lighter, leave them behind and opt to rent the gear you need once you arrive instead.

Fall and Winter Basics

Travelers who are heading to Pawleys Island in the fall or winter will find crisper temperatures, but still a mild climate to enjoy year-round! The lowest you can expect temperatures to drop on a winter evening here is around 40 degrees Fahrenheit while daytime temperatures make their way up to the 60s even in the heart of December and January. This gives you options to head out and enjoy the fresh air and views, but the fluctuating temperatures will mean you’ll want to be sure to pack layers of clothing for your journey this time of year. Having light jackets available as well as short-sleeved shirts and long pants puts the beach without reach while you remain comfortable at all times. An umbrella is also a good idea in the winter in the South as this season comes with a few more chances for showers than other times. To that end, if you’re planning on spending time on the sand, beach shoes can be helpful for getting around comfortably. Don’t forget your binoculars when you head to Pawleys Island in the fall or winter as this is a great time of year for birding along the shoreline too.
